I am Mrs. Bell. I am excited to be serving as a counselor for Bessie Coleman.  I will be working with the following this year:
  • 8th-grade students' last names beginning with A-L
  • All 6th-grade students' last names beginning with A-Z

I have worked in education for 20 years and this will be my fifth year at Bessie Coleman. I am proud to say that I am a veteran of the US Army and before my move into education I maintained a career in telecommunications.

I hold strongly to the belief that every student should be well-balanced. Scholars need to be developed in every area- social, emotional, and academic. Educating the whole child is the beginning of wisdom and success.

I am very excited to be here and look forward to an exciting year.

I am Chimere Mitchell! I am excited to be serving as a counselor for Bessie Coleman.

I will be working with the following this year:

7 th grade scholars’ last names beginning with A-Z
8 th grade scholars’ last names beginning with M-Z

I have worked in the field of education for 15 years and this is my first year at Bessie Coleman. Working with youth has been my passion since I can remember and I am thrilled to have served in this capacity for many years. I have learned throughout the years that the climate and culture of any setting can make the ultimate difference and I am excited to collaborate with campus leaders to ensure our campus is constantly evolving to cultivate an encouraging space for our scholars.

Part of my focus at Bessie Coleman is to ensure our scholars feel heard and seen by recognizing
students’ developing maturity and guiding them with learning SEL skills in order to navigate through the complexities of everyday life. I believe scholars and their social-emotional well-being have become just as important in their overall development, working to bridge the gap between their social-emotional needs and their academic successes can ensure overall growth in our scholars.
